What have you learned during this term so far?

Hey All,

For those of you wanting to continue blogging, how about a reflection on what you have learned this term so far, it can be from our class or any of the others?

How are you doing in your classes?

Did you register yet for Summer and Fall terms?

Are there any topics or subjects that you would like me to add or make sure I include in class time?

Just give us an idea of how things are going and what you still hope to accomplish this term and how you will do it.

  1. So far this term, I have learned a variety of things. In this class, I have learned a tremendous amount about Native American studies. In my multicultural communications class, I have gained a better insight on how to communicate effectively with others who are from a different culture than me. A class that I am struggling a bit in is statistics. It is difficult for me because most of the time I am not really sure on what my teacher is looking for in my answers to his questions. I am getting use to how he likes to run class but it still continues to be a struggle.

I just registered for summer term. Originally I wasn’t going to do summer term because I am doing this nursing assistance class. However, I needed to take chemistry 121 before I started my biology series. So now over the summer I will be doing both the nursing assistance class and taking chemistry. I register tonight for fall term and as of now I plan on taking biology 111+115 and then biology 231.

This term I hope to still learn a little bit more about writing. Specifically, I need some help citing my sources. I have a bit of an idea but I’m not sure if they are cited all the same way (MLA, APA).

I am really excited to write our final paper. Writing is something I enjoy and I feel as if the topic I have chosen is a strong one. I am writing about casinos and how they affect local tribes as well as the history behind casinos and some certain rules and/or laws they have. I am hoping by writing this paper, I will become a better writer.

  2. I started researching more about my topic for our paper. Again, I am doing casinos. I found some really awesome information and I'm excited to start my outline.

If any one has any good information let me know :)

  3. This class is my first college class and I need to adapt the college courses. As so far I am doing well in this class and from this class I learned that the college classes have much homework and we need to finish homework on time otherwise we could not get the points.
Furthermore, some college classes require the group presentation or group discussion. During these group works I can know group mate’s opinions and I also can learn how to communicate with group mates.
In the summer quarter I have already registered the global studies and psychology classes and I know these classes will be difficult for me so I need to study harder in these classes.

  7. Hey Summer,

Besides this college strategy class, I have two ELP classes. In summer quarter I will choose globe studies and psychology. Actually I really like to take psychology because I think I can learn some information which maybe could solve people’s mental problems. And my psychology’s teacher is Hatziandreas. How about you? Do you want to take summer quarter?

  9. Wow, this year I have learned so much about Native American's history, it's unbelievable. I've been coming home so much this quarter exclaiming to my family the harsh reality of Native American history. It blows me away what we HAVEN'T been taught in elementary school during all those years of Native American lessons.
Classes this quarter are going alright for me. And yes I have signed up for fall classes. I'm taking a math class, environmental science class, and a history class. Next year will be my year of math and science classes, oh boo am I afraid. haha! But it will be my last year at Cascadia and then I will be moving on to WWU! Yay! I'm very excited for that.
